Milliken & Company announced named Allen Jacoby as EVP and president of its textile business, assuming full operational responsibility for the company’s textile product portfolio. Smithers announced the appointment of Michael Zier to the Laboratory Operations Manager role for Smithers Medical Device Testing Division new Germany laboratory.

Michael Zier has a wealth of experience in developing and testing of pharmaceutical combination products, including the associated regulatory requirements and international testing standards. As the Laboratory Operations Manager, he will develop testing protocols, ensure regulatory compliance, manage laboratory technicians, and work directly with clients to understand their goals and to ensure that client projects are on time.

The Swiss Datwyler plant, together with the company oeko energie AG, is operating an innovative “Self-Consumption Network”. This network enables the two companies to share their eco-friendly electricity and to purchase additional electricity on the free market. On August 26, Zeon Medical Inc. (Zeon Medical), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zeon Corporation (Zeon), received a stern warning
from the Japan Fair Trade Council of the Medical Devices Industry (Fair Trade Council). The action was taken on the grounds that money and other compensation paid to medical professionals, which Zeon Medical reported as outsourcing fees for post marketing surveillance and other purposes, constituted the provision of premiums as a means of unjustifiably inducing transactions in medical devices under Article 3 of the Fair Competition Code concerning Restriction on Premium Offers in the Medical Devices Industry (Fair Competition Code) and therefore violated the Fair Competition Code.

Interface, Inc. announced continued efforts to develop a circular economy with expanded capabilities at its recycling facility in Scherpenzeel, Netherlands.

The Scherpenzeel recycling plant will now use an innovative process to recycle post-consumer carpet tiles that cannot be reused, supporting Interface’s commitment to circularity. This will enable the used products to be immediately returned to the production cycle and used to make new carpet tiles for the European market.
