The Mitsubishi Chemical Group (the MCG Group) announced that its plant-derived polyol “BioPTMG” has been adopted by Kahei Co., Ltd. as a synthetic leather (bio-synthetic leather) material. In addition, small items (shoulder bags, wet tissue cases, etc.) made with this bio-synthetic leather will be available for purchase at “tonto,” run by Triple A Co., Ltd., a planner and marketer of sustainable products.
Bio-synthetic leather is made from plant-derived raw materials, among synthetic leathers that use materials other than synthetic leather materials made from non-animal-derived materials.

Solvay announced the official inauguration of its regenerative thermal oxidation (RTO) process at its Green River, Wyoming plant, marking a key milestone in the Group’s global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and drive sustainable growth. This innovative emissions control technology, the first of its kind in the trona mining industry, enhances Solvay’s long-term competitiveness while contributing to a group-wide goal of lowering emissions. It will contribute to reducing GHG emissions at the Green River plant by up to 20% annually and support achieving a 4% reduction in emissions at Group level by 2025.

Hankook Tire announced its latest product portfolio expansion with the launch of the Weatherflex product family and the Weatherflex GT in North America. As the first member of the Weatherflex family, the Weatherflex GT is an all-weather product that delivers year-round control and confidence, especially during harsher weather months and snowy road conditions. Backed by a three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) rating, Hankook designed the Weatherflex GT to accommodate a variety of fitments from compact to full-size vehicle segments.

The Bridgestone BATTLAX SPORT TOURING T33 applies a host of new technologies. Both the front and rear benefit from a new pattern design, with optimized land-sea ratio and pattern stiffness, alongside a continuation of the T32 shape for confident grip, stability and handling. The front tire applies a new cross belt, while the rear adopts an MS belt—both engineered with a flexible construction and suitable for light and heavy bikes. The rear tire has been engineered with a newly-developed compound, applying a high-strength, wear resistant polymer that helps to prevent the polymer chain scission.

Porsche is relying on tires from Continental as original equipment for the new Panamera. The sports sedan will be factory-equipped with tires from the premium tire manufacturer: the SportContact 7 tire for sporty driving, the all-season tire ProContact RX for good handling on dry and wet roads, and the WinterContact TS 860 S for the colder winter months.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company will report third quarter 2024 financial results after market close on Monday, November 4, followed by an investor conference call at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, November 5.

Manique has previously held leadership roles at E.I. DuPont de Nemours and DSM. Most recently, he served as a Global Business Director at Avient Protective Materials. He holds a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from FEI-Brazil, an MBA from São Paulo University, and a postgraduate degree in materials science from the University of São Paulo-Brazil. Additionally, Manique is a certified Six Sigma Master and Black Belt and has completed the Authentic Leader Development program at Harvard Business School.
