Solvay commits to allocating 30% of permeable land located near biodiversity-sensitive areas to support nature conservation and restoration efforts by 2030, along with other commitments validated by Act4Nature International. These initiatives build upon Solvay’s sustainability strategy and measurable actions launched to protect biodiversity and nature.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it has begun supplying its ADVAN Sport EV tires as original equipment for the new LEAPMOTOR C16n SUV launched by Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co., Ltd. (LEAPMOTOR) in China in June 2024. The tire sizes are 245/45R21 104V XL for the front and 255/45R21 106V XL for the rear.

Agriculture is an ever-evolving sector, which is highly influenced by the arrival of new technologies and increasingly innovative, state-of-the-art machinery. Today, traditional farming techniques are being overtaken by more efficient and productive operations – partly thanks to the arrival of Agriculture 4.0 applications, namely precision farming, IoT sensors, crop monitoring drones, as well as an entire series of devices and technologies that allow for 360-degree process optimization. A new scenario where sustainability is at the center of this transformation process.

As part of this investment, multiple new Milacron presses have been installed across Mack’s facilities. The Cavendish, Vermont, plant has added an 1100-ton and a 500-ton press, while, the East Arlington, Vermont, plant has upgraded its equipment with a 500-ton press, along with a 950-ton and a 1500-ton press replacing older models. Mack’s Statesville, North Carolina facility has also been enhanced with a 610-ton and an 1100-ton press, further strengthening its production capabilities.

EP Minerals has expanded Lintech International, LLC’s territory to now include both the Midwest and Southeast. Lintech International will manage EP Minerals’ portfolio of industrial minerals including diatomaceous earth filter aids and functional additives, adsorbent clay and perlite filter aid products. Lintech International is the exclusive supplier of EP Mineral’s functional additive diatomaceous earth products in both the Southeast and the Midwest. This agreement is effective starting February 5, 2025.

The Firestone Agricultural Workers’ Union of Liberia (FAWUL), representing the strikers, has accused Firestone Liberia of failing to address their demands despite repeated negotiations. Key demands include setting retirement and service benefits at one month’s salary for each year served, an $80 salary increment over three years, and the expansion of the Collective Bargaining Agreement to cover both permanent and non-permanent employees. Additionally, the workers are calling for the immediate dismissal of two senior human resources officials, citing conflict of interest and poor human relations.

Continental’s Automotive group sector, already in the process of becoming an independent listed company, has appointed its former head of Quality and Operations, Nino Romano, as its new chief technology officer (CTO). Romano assumed his new role on February 1, 2025. Under Romano’s leadership, the technology and operations areas will be consolidated in the new CTO organization.  

Guill Tool has hired a new sales representative firm. Located in Roswell, Georgia, JCM Plastics Machinery is a plastics and rubber manufacturing equipment representative, covering the Southeastern U.S. territory.
