The LEGO Group pledged to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 as part of its continued efforts to reduce environmental impact. The number of apprenticeships at the Freudenberg Group in Weinheim has increased by a total of 40 percent compared to last year. “70 young talents are starting their training at Freudenberg. This means a 40 percent increase for our company at the site. At the same time, it demonstrates the responsibility we live by to invest in the future of young people in the long term and to actively counteract the shortage of skilled workers,” said Raúl González, Head of the Training Centre. “We also train 45 apprentices for association partners.” Today, a total of 115 young people are starting their training in a modern training centre. Worldwide, the Freudenberg Group is training some 500 young people in 15 countries for the labour market of the future.

ABC Technologies Holdings Inc. announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire an automotive business in North America to be renamed Plastikon Automotive. The business is currently part of Plastikon Industries. Plastikon Automotive is a Tier One and Tier Two automotive interiors, assemblies and electric vehicle (EV) battery housing supplier.

– Continental has appointed Manja Greimeier as Head of its Tires’ Original Equipment business area, effective August 1, 2023. In this role, she is responsible for the tire manufacturer’s global original equipment business for passenger and commercial vehicles. Her predecessor, David O’Donnel, recently took over responsibility for the global research and development activities for Continental’s passenger car tire replacement business

Elkem has decided to accelerate maintenance at its plant in Iceland. The accelerated maintenance will curtail production by temporarily shutting down one furnace at the ferrosilicon plant in Grundartangi, about 40 kilometers from the capital Reykjavik. The decision will have no impact on customers or employees.
