lkem CEO Helge Aasen participated in a roundtable discussion with EU Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič and Norwegian Minister of Trade & Industry Jan Christian Vestre on current and future challenges and opportunities in Europe’s green transition.
The meeting was organized by The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprises and The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions. Maroš Šefčovič is the Vice President at the European Commission and also coordinator of the Commission’s work on the European Battery Alliance (EBA).

USTMA applauds the NHTSA recent action preventing improper tire labeling

– The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) applauds the recent information letter issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) advising tire dealers and distributors that some Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV) and All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tires for sale in the U.S. are mislabeled and marketed as compliant with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), instead of categorized as Not for Highway Service (NHS) tires.

Sumitomo Rubber technician wins 2022 Industry Mentor of the Year from the US Tire Technology Consortium

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. announced that one of their technicians has won the “2022 Industry Mentor of the Year” from CenTiRe, a major tire technology consortium in the United States. Given in recognition of the mentor who has contributed the most when it comes to providing guidance and support for academic researchers, the “Industry Mentor of the Year” was just established by CenTiRe this year. In other words, our own Dr. Toshio Tada (a General Manager in the Material Planning Department of our Material Research and Development HQ) has the distinct honor of being the very first person chosen to receive this prestigious award.

Michelin revitalizes their Bamberg tire facility in Germany

Michelin’s Bamberg tire-manufacturing facility in the city of Hallstadt (Bamberg District), inaugurated almost 50 years ago, will be transformed into a novel facility dedicated to innovation. Totally re-invented, the 8,000m2 site will house specialized companies focusing on artificial intelligence, digitalization and sustainable mobility (hydrogen and electro-mobility).
