Cabot Corporation published its 2021 Sustainability Report, highlighting the progress it has achieved on its sustainability agenda and its aspirations for the future. The report outlines the announcement of Cabot’s ambition to achieve net zero emissions globally by 2050 and advancements made on its 2025 sustainability goals.

– The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) applauds the recent information letter issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) advising tire dealers and distributors that some Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV) and All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tires for sale in the U.S. are mislabeled and marketed as compliant with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), instead of categorized as Not for Highway Service (NHS) tires.

Zeon Corporation has announced that they are raising the prices for synthetic latex Nipol line. They will increase the price for SBR Latex 0.65 – 1.10 USD/kg (Dry basis) and NBR Latex 0.65 – 0.85 USD/kg (Dry basis) starting July 1st, 2022.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. announced that one of their technicians has won the “2022 Industry Mentor of the Year” from CenTiRe, a major tire technology consortium in the United States. Given in recognition of the mentor who has contributed the most when it comes to providing guidance and support for academic researchers, the “Industry Mentor of the Year” was just established by CenTiRe this year. In other words, our own Dr. Toshio Tada (a General Manager in the Material Planning Department of our Material Research and Development HQ) has the distinct honor of being the very first person chosen to receive this prestigious award.

At the International Rubber Conference, which will take place in Nuremberg on June 27 to 30, 2022, the specialty chemicals company LANXESS will be showcasing its broad range of additives for the rubber processing industry (Hall 9, Stand 133). These will include pre-dispersed chemicals, processing promoters as well as vulcanization and filler activators. Michelin’s Bamberg tire-manufacturing facility in the city of Hallstadt (Bamberg District), inaugurated almost 50 years ago, will be transformed into a novel facility dedicated to innovation. Totally re-invented, the 8,000m2 site will house specialized companies focusing on artificial intelligence, digitalization and sustainable mobility (hydrogen and electro-mobility).
