Motion Industries, Inc. signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire the operating assets of U.S.-based International Conveyor and Rubber (ICR). The transaction is expected to close at the end of December 2024, subject to customary closing conditions.

ICR services commercial and industrial customers in the eastern United States. Headquartered in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, the company has seven locations, offering sales, installation, repair and maintenance of conveyor belts and related system products. They also provide engineering and design services for custom solutions.

At Plastec West in Anaheim, California/USA, taking place from 4 to 6 February 2025, Arburg will showcase exciting topics such as silicone injection molding, digitalization and automation. EXPOL has signed an agreement to acquire 80 percent of the shares in Piedmont Resin Supply, LLC (Piedmont) from the founder Mr. Matt Griffith and Mr. Paul Daniel. Piedmont was founded in 2013 and has grown to become one of the largest independent nylon compounders in the US. The company is an industry leader in technical nylon compounds on the US market and services a variety of customers within automotive, transportation and the furniture industries. Piedmont operates a well invested manufacturing facility in Cartersville, GA with some 60 employees and further capacity to grow

The Philadelphia Eagles and Braskem have enhanced their partnership with the launch of their new STEM education program, Tackling STEM, for the 2024-2025 academic school year. Tackling STEM is an education program that delivers free digital and hands-on interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education opportunities to students in the Greater Philadelphia area with over 20 schools participating. The program is supported by Science of Sport, a nonprofit organization that teaches kids STEM through sports.

Nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of fleet managers recognize a need for substantial changes within their fleets to meet current industry challenges. This finding comes from a survey conducted by the market research company Dataforce on behalf of Continental, polling 850 fleet managers in Germany, France, the UK and the USA. Key challenges identified by respondents include rising costs (76 percent), economic uncertainties due to crises (46 percent), and the pressure to reduce CO₂ emissions (40 percent). The survey was conducted online between June and July 2024.
