Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. announced that they have begun supplying their high-performance DUNLOP “SP SPORT MAXX GT600 DSST” run-flat tires to Nissan Motor Corporation for use as factory standard tires on their 2022 Model “NISSAN GT-R” and “NISSAN GT-R NISMO,” both of which went on sale this October.

Evonik has used its expertise in polyurethane (PU) chemistry to develop an efficient chemical recycling process for converting flexible PU foams back to the original polyol raw material. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre opened the new energy recovery plant at Elkem Salten in the northern part of Norway. The installation positions Elkem Salten as one of the most energy effective silicon plants in the world, in line with the ambitions of Elkem’s climate roadmap towards net zero by 2050, further strengthening its competitiveness.
The new energy recovery plant will recover 28% of the electrical energy used at Elkem Salten, equal to the power consumption of about 15,000 Norwegian households. Together with other energy recovery installations implemented at Elkem plants, this brings the total energy recovery of the group to approximately 900 GWh per year, similar to the capacity of the largest wind park in Norway.

Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it has launched a new conveyor belt, the flame-retardant Hamaheat Super 100, which combines high-heat resistance and flame-resistance properties.

The joint effort enables 9TLabs’ innovative additive manufacturing technology to produce low-to-medium volume size parts for the aerospace, medical, luxury/leisure, automation, and oil and gas industries.  Solvay will focus on the development of carbon fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone (CF/PEEK), CF-reinforced bio-based high performance polyamides and CF-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (CF/PPS) composite materials.
