Characterizing rubber by correlations between shear heating parameter, minimum torque and dynamic complex viscosity

by Mattia Ramini, Italian Gasket S.p.A., and Michele Scacchi, Alpha Technologies U.K.

Today, the rubber industry requires the manufacture of seals and gaskets with a very high level of quality. Injection molding is one of the most used rubber processing technologies, allowing the manufacture of final products. Rubber processing by injection molding is a complex process, affected by many parameters, such as temperature, pressure and shear rate.
