Comerio Ercole celebrates 140 years of innovation and industrial excellence
Busto Arsizio, Italy – Comerio Ercole SpA is marking a major milestone this year as it celebrates its 140th anniversary. Founded in 1885 by Ercole Comerio, the company has grown from a local entrepreneurial venture into a global leader in machinery for rubber and plastic processing, exporting 94% of its production worldwide.
To commemorate this historic achievement, Comerio Ercole has published a 272-page book chronicling its journey through time. The volume captures the company’s evolution through historical anecdotes, technological milestones, and personal stories, all underscoring a legacy built on tradition and a relentless drive for innovation.
“Our corporate DNA is based on deep respect for tradition and constant forward-looking drive,” said Riccardo Comerio, a key figure in the company’s leadership. “Every day we face challenging and stimulating situations that push us to keep improving.”
Economic journalist Luciano Landoni, who authored the book’s afterword, praised the company’s enduring spirit: “The entrepreneurial example of Comerio Ercole is highly motivating, especially for young people, who now more than ever need concrete signals based on competence, passion, and vision.”
As part of its anniversary celebrations, Comerio Ercole will host an open house on June 6 at its main production site in Busto Arsizio. The event will unveil two major innovations:
A new universal Industry 5.0 manufacturing center, signaling the company’s commitment to the next generation of smart, human-centric industrial systems.
An expanded R&D technology center, now featuring two new experimental machines for mixing and calendaring, including a cutting-edge longitudinal stretching unit for thin sheets.
The R&D facility, already home to advanced calendering and mixing labs, now includes a “mini-factory” equipped with a reconfigurable 4-roll calendering line and a dual feeding system. A second lab focuses on embossing processes for films and nonwovens, offering up to 100 pattern options for material enhancement.
These investments reinforce Comerio Ercole’s role as a technological innovator, supporting clients from concept to patent validation in the fields of polymer and elastomer processing.
As the company celebrates its past, it remains firmly focused on the future—continuing to blend tradition with innovation in pursuit of industrial excellence.
