Continental and Tour de France extend partnership until 2027

Hanover, Germany – Continental is extending its long-standing trusting partnership and sponsorship activities until 2027. As one of the five main partners, the tire manufacturer, together with the tour organization A.S.O. (Amaury Sport Organisation), will continue to actively shape the largest and most important cycling race in the world in the coming years and make its contribution to a safe and sustainable future for the Tour. In addition, the new ContiRe.Tex recycling technology will be used in tire production this year.

Christian Prudhomme, Director of the Tour de France, is pleased about the further cooperation: “Continental is one of the most important innovation partners for the Tour de France, with whom we have grown closely together in recent years. We are proud to be able to benefit from the expertise of Continental’s experts in tire technology and sustainability for another five years.” Already at the end of 2017, the cooperation of the premium tire manufacturer from Hanover began as a sponsor and safety partner with the Tour de France, at that time already as a tire supplier of the official support vehicles and as a manufacturer of the bicycle tires of the champions. Continental has been one of the five main partners since 2019. “We are looking forward to the successful continuation of our partnership. In particular, the important topics of road safety and a more sustainable future unite us and form the basis of our trusting cooperation,” says Ferdinand Hoyos, Head of Continental’s Tire Replacement Business in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

n addition to premium tire performance for the cycling professionals and their accompanying drivers, the sustainable mobility of tomorrow also plays an important role for Continental. By 2030, the company aims to become the most advanced tire manufacturer in the field of sustainability and is also transferring these ambitions to the sponsorship partnership with the Tour de France. “We welcome the Tour de France’s quest for greater sustainability and support this wherever possible. That’s why, for example, we are equipping all support vehicles of this year’s Tour with tires based on our new ContiRe.Tex technology,” explains Hoyos. “In each of these sets of tyres, recycled polyester is processed from recycled PET materials – with unchanged high safety standards and absolutely reliable tyre performance.”
Six of the participating professional cycling teams will once again rely on Continental as tyre partner this Year: The riders from Ineos Grenadiers, Groupama-FDJ, Bahrain-Victorious, Movistar, Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux and Arkéa-Samsic will compete for places on the podium on specially handcrafted GP5000 tyres.

The 109th edition of the Tour de France starts on 1 July in Europe’s cycling capital Copenhagen and ends after around 3,330 kilometres and 21 stages on the magnificent boulevard of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris.
