Elementis announced the launch of Charguard fire-retardant synergist portfolio

Shanghai, China – Elementis announced the launch of its innovative CHARGUARD™ fire-retardant synergist portfolio in China and the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Featuring three advanced products—CHARGUARD™ 1000, CHARGUARD™ 2000, and the latest addition, CHARGUARD™ 2010—the portfolio is manufactured using sustainably sourced, smectite-based organoclays, ensuring compliance with the highest international environmental and regulatory standards. The locally sourced CHARGUARD™ 2010 is produced in China to meet the specific needs of manufacturers in the region.
“The unique lamellar structure of CHARGUARD™ creates a multifunctional solution: it promotes char formation, inhibits smoke generation, and prevents dripping in superheated thermoplastics, all while enhancing the efficacy of primary flame retardants,” said Wendy Li, New Business Development Director, Asia at Elementis. “With CHARGUARD™ 2010, we’re empowering manufacturers across China to improve fire safety in their products, aligning with the growing demand for sustainable, high-performance plastics.”
As demand for safer, more sustainable products rises, manufacturers across China and APAC are tasked with improving the fire resistance and thermal properties of plastics while navigating increasingly stringent environmental regulations. The CHARGUARD™ range offers a powerful alternative to traditional synergists, such as antimony trioxide and PFAS-based products like PTFE, enabling manufacturers to meet regulatory requirements without sacrificing performance.
The CHARGUARD™ portfolio provides a key solution in a rapidly evolving market where non-halogenated fire retardants are gaining traction. As environmental concerns drive a move away from harmful substances, Elementis is at the forefront of providing safe, high-performance-driven speciality additives that meet both regulatory standards and consumer demand for more sustainable products.
