Michelin to invest $50 million in upgrades at American Synthetic Rubber

Louisville, KY – Michelin North America, Inc. has made a $50 million investment at American Synthetic Rubber Company (ASRC) to construct a natural gas boiler facility. The new facility will significantly reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The project entails the decommissioning and dismantling of the coal boilers at ASRC. It also includes the installation of a new boiler house with three natural gas boilers and a new boiler water treatment process.

This project is driven by Michelin’s commitment to reducing ASRC’s environmental impact — less CO2, less water, less waste.

“At Michelin, we are continually looking for areas for reduction in environmental impact of our operations and improvement of the quality of life for our communities,” said Alexis Garcin, President and CEO of Michelin North America Inc. “This new gas boiler will serve this purpose, and we are very proud of this investment that will further reinforce our stewardship in the environmental protection of the Louisville community.”
