NovationSi to supply custom colorant for Arburg Cell at MD&M West

Barberton, OH – NovationSi, RDAbbott’s manufacturing subsidiary, will supply the custom colorant for ARBURG’s injection molding cell at MD&M West 2025 in Booth 4229 of Hall B. This special NovaSperse® color dispersion will match ARBURG’s teal logo, a highly visible feature of the German manufacturer’s injection molding machines.

Visit ARBURG in Booth 4229 of Hall B at the Anaheim Convention Center in California from February 4 to 6, 2025, to experience the efficiency and quality of injection molding with silicone elastomers and custom colorants on an electric ALLROUNDER 470 A machine.

The silicone part that ARBURG will mold is a “Tighty” cable tie made of high consistency rubber (HCR) for medical devices during sterilization. The cycle time is 45 seconds, and the part weight is 3.45 grams.

ACH Solution GmbH designed and manufactured the four-cavity mold featuring their mechanical valve gate balancing system. The company’s TURNMIX HTV (high-temperature vulcanized) dosing system will be used for continuous material feed. The handling tasks will be performed by ARBURG’s MULTILIFT SELECT 6 linear robot system, and a 3D-printed end-of-arm tool (EOAT) manufactured by ACH Solution. This custom EOAT was designed to be lightweight but durable enough to remove the finished parts.

MD&M West is one of the world’s largest gatherings of design and manufacturing professionals. Previous years featured co-located shows, but this year’s event integrates four manufacturing sectors into one unified event: Plastics and Polymers, Medical Devices, Automation and Robotics, and Design and Manufacturing. Together with Application Engineers and Technicians from ARBURG and ACH Solution, Lustek assisted with setting up the cell during a recent mold trial and troubleshooting to ensure the parts run smoothly at MD&M West. Lustek, who has over 25 years of experience in process engineering, research and development, product management, and manufacturing, will also assist with set-up and tear-down at the conference on behalf of RDAbbott and NovationSi.
