Pirelli launches second generation bicycle tires
Milan, Italy – Four years after the launch of the P ZERO Velo, the first bicycle tire which marked Pirelli’s return to the world of cycling, Pirelli introduces the P ZERO, the new range available in two variants: P ZERO Race, which is the version designed for ultimate performance levels, and P ZERO Road, which is dedicated to cyclists in search of an all-round tire.
The new P ZERO line was devised to replace the P ZERO Velo, the best-seller launched in June 2017 which quickly became one of the main benchmarks on the market, and testifies to the evolution of Pirelli’s role in cycling. Compared with the previous model, the new P ZERO Race and Road offer more grip, a smoother ride and greater comfort, adapting to the new standards of wide rims, which are now the benchmark in the sector.
The new P ZERO Race clincher is a bicycle tire dedicated to pure performance on the road and it joins the market after the P ZERO Race TLR and P ZERO Race TLR SL models. Compared to the Tubeless Ready version, the P ZERO Race presents the same tread design and the same compound used, SmartEVO Compound, which has already been tested by the top World Tour teams that Pirelli has partnered with: AG2R Citroën, TREK-Segafredo and Team BikeExchange.
SmartEVO Compound stands out for the ternary blend of “smart” behaving polymers, which provide specific performance levels and thereby guarantee the perfect balance between parts. The result is better grip in all conditions of use, extremely low rolling resistance and enhanced responsiveness and riding comfort of the bike.
