Reliance Industries breaks ground on first of 500 CBG plants in Andhra Pradesh

Kanigiri, India – Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has embarked on a transformative journey to establish 500 Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants across Andhra Pradesh, with the first plant’s foundation stone laid in Kanigiri, Prakasam district. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Andhra Pradesh IT & Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh, along with several state government dignitaries and senior Reliance officials.

The ambitious project, with a total investment of Rs. 65,000 crores, aims to utilize 500,000 acres of barren and waste lands in Prakasam, Anantapur, Chittoor, and Kadapa districts to produce bio-gas from Napier grass. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the rural economy by providing lease revenues to farmers and transforming barren land into fertile farmland.

Reliance’s Executive Director, P M S Prasad, emphasized the project’s dual benefits of energy production and community upliftment. The CBG plants will produce 40 lakh tons of green energy annually and yield one crore tons of Fermented Organic Manure, reducing chemical fertilizer consumption and enhancing farmer incomes.

This project aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s clean energy ambitions and represents a major step towards sustainable development in the region. The state government and Reliance Industries share a united vision of making Andhra Pradesh a leading state in India through innovative bioenergy solutions.
