Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) attends the Silicone Expo USA in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, PA – Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) is attending the Silicone Expo USA in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Visit us in Booth #171 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center from September 10 to 12, 2024 and meet Dominic Testo, SSP’s Business Development Manager and a member of Silicone Expo USA’s Advisory Board. Dominic will be joined by Kevin Wickert, Sales and Marketing Manager; Gary Falchi, Business Development Specialist; and Amelia Berry, Product Development Chemist.
SSP will showcase our MIL-SPEC and aerospace grade silicones, each of which is available with a batch-level certificate of analysis (COA). We’ll also tell you about our in-house research and development (R&D) team, show you samples of our EMI/RFI shielding elastomers, and explain why our space-grade materials are the best on the market today. Keep reading to learn more and contact SSP if you’d like to schedule a meeting or can’t make the show but need innovative elastomers.
Earlier this summer, the FAA began investigating how material from an obscure Chinese company was sold with falsified documents and used in parts that went into jets. It’s the latest incident involving traceability, a leading concern for the defense and aerospace industry. Today, some suppliers substitute ingredients and invalidate their claims to making spec-grade materials. That’s not the case at SSP, where our spec-grade silicones come with COAs and are proudly Made in USA.
For a small-to-medium manufacturer, having a five-person R&D team is uncommon. Yet that’s part of the strength of Specialty Silicone Products, a leader in custom formulations and product analysis. Come meet Amelia Berry, Product Development Chemist, in Booth #171, and learn more about how she and her teammates are performing the type of custom development work you’d expect from a larger company, but faster. The team is led by Dr. Sarah Lewis, R&D Manager, who narrates this video.
SSP’s conductive silicones provide proven levels of EMI shielding. Many of our products have been independently-tested, including MIL-DTL-83528 gasket materials that are part of the U.S. military’s Qualified Products List (QPL). SSP also makes flame-retardant EMI gasketing you can use instead of GORE GS2100 and GORE GS5200, both of which have been discontinued. Our proven products include low outgassing, low durometer (30 to 40 Shore A), and corrosion-resistant compounds.
SSP’s space-grade silicones include conductive and non-conductive elastomers that are currently in space or have been approved for use. For example, SSP502-40-V0 is an electrically conductive elastomer that has been independently tested to ASTM595 outgassing parameters. SSP2575 also passes ASTM595 outgas testing but is a non-conductive material that remains flexible at temperatures down to 115°C. In addition, SSP makes EMI waveguide gaskets for ground stations.
