Specialty Silicone Products to showcase electrically conductive O-rings and extrusions at The Battery Show North America
Ballston Spa, NY – Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) will showcase electrically conductive O-rings and extrusions at The Battery Show North America from October 8 to 10, 2024. Visit SSP in Booth #1334 at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan and find EMI shielding for battery enclosures and charging stations. SSP’s products combine proven performance with cost-effective options for prototyping and production.
At the Battery Show, SSP will be represented by Dominic Testo, Business Development Manager; Gary Falchi, Business Development Specialist; and Taylor Smith, Research Development Chemist. The SSP Team invites you to visit them in Booth #1334.
EMI O-rings can be molded in a single piece or cut and bonded from extrusions. Molded O-rings reduce the risk of EMI leakage, but molding requires tooling that costs more and takes longer to machine. SSP can supply you with molded EMI O-rings if you need them, but we also offer bonded O-rings that are made with tooling that’s faster and less expensive to produce.
The process that SSP uses supports larger parts, including bonded O-rings for battery enclosures. We have an in-house toolroom and make our own EMI elastomers, including lower-cost nickel-filled options. Because silver is a precious metal, silver-filled elastomers are subject to price volatility that could result in cost overruns during battery projects.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEM) who source bonded EMI O-rings from SSP can install our products on-site and avoid third-party form-in-place (FIP) gaskets that introduce risk. When OEMs ship battery enclosures to subcontractors, dispensed gaskets or the enclosures can be damaged. In addition, because battery enclosures are heavy, the shipping costs are high.
