Starrett-Bytewise Profilometer3D offers the highest accuracy in off-line measurement
Columbus, GA – Starrett-Bytewise Profilometer3D offers the highest accuracy in off-line measurement, acquiring 500 measurement tracks in a single scan in order to assess the geometry over a larger area of analysis than is possible with a fixed point scanner. Users have been rewarded with a new confidence that Profilometer3D measurements characterize the true geometrical uniformity of the tread.
“Tire makers invest in extrusion quality and productivity improvements so they can win more business from the most demanding car makers, who continue to press for better tire dynamic performance. The tire tread is the heaviest and highest cost component in the tire, and poor tread uniformity has a profound effect on both tire dynamic performance and extruder productivity,” said Mr. Matt Orvis, Sales Director, Starrett-Bytewise. “We are pleased to offer laser measurement systems for the safety, endurance and performance of tire manufacture.”
Profilometer3D is augmented by the Starrett-Bytewise On-Line Profilometer (OLP), which is used in both hot and cold positions. OLP acquires over 20 scans per second so operators can assess die swell and shrinkage, within a run and between runs. OLP is a fully-automated measurement system which increases the productivity of line operators. OLP users can immediately respond to process changes, reducing the frequency and complexity of quality problems. The high data frequency data sets produced by OLP are ideally suited for data analytics and AI programs, where the geometry data can be combined with the compound’s material properties and the extruder operating conditions, to reveal complex relationships.
