The new Michelin PRO5 bicycle tire now available in North America

Greenville, SC – The new MICHELIN PRO5 bicycle tire, now available in North America, is designed to meet the needs of the most experienced riders, whether they are fans of long outings or road racing. With remarkable performance in all conditions, the MICHELIN PRO5 sets a new standard.

“The tire plays a key role in the bicycle’s dynamic behavior, transmitting the force needed for it to move,” said Andrew Besancon, Marketing Director for Recreational Brands at Michelin. “The tire is the only point of contact between the bicycle and the road, which is an imperfect surface. While cyclists cannot change the surface on which they are riding, they can choose the tire most suited to conquer the terrain.”

Michelin has completely redesigned its offer for road bicycle tires, turning to advanced technologies. The result is the MICHELIN PRO5, a tire designed for both endurance and competition alike. Significantly more efficient than its predecessor, the MICHELIN PRO4 Endurance, the MICHELIN PRO5 boasts a 35% improvement in rolling resistance. This improvement is achieved thanks to the tire’s new Tubeless Ready design, as well as its mix of MICHELIN Gum-X tread rubber.

By combining a new tread design, and wider cross-sections ranging from 28 to 35 mm, the MICHELIN PRO5 is developed to give cyclists maximum comfort, grip, and durability on both dry and wet surfaces. In fact, the tire’s internal structure allows the cyclist to reduce the inflation pressure, based on the recommended tire pressure range marked on the tire, thus generating comfort when riding at all speeds.

The combination of the tread design and rubber mix provides excellent wet-braking traction, offering confidence when riding competitively or just for fun.

Road cyclists expect to ride long durations without worrying about their tires. The MICHELIN PRO5 was tested under real conditions across more than 60,000 miles by all types of potential users: cyclists riding for fun, ultra-distance athletes, and professional racers.

Cyclists also appreciate air retention of the MICHELIN PRO5, providing consistent air pressure over long periods of time. This is important as consistent tire pressure lowers the opportunity for wear.

The MICHELIN PRO5 is compatible with most road bikes, offered in widths ranging from 28 to 35mm, including widths of 30 and 32 mm. The Michelin PRO5 is a premium all-around road cycling tire perfectly suited to most routes and weather conditions.

Offered in two sidewall color variations, black and classic, the new MICHELIN PRO5 provides options for riders to select the tire that complements their bicycles.
