Akron, OH – The Rubber Division, ACS announces the following learning opportunities.

October 3 – Course: Dynamic Viscoelastic Properties
October 9 – Webinar: Fundamentals of Machine Vision for the Inspection of Rubber Seals
October 10 – Course: Rubber Extrusion Technology
October 21-25 – Endurica Workshop: Characterizing Elastomer Fatigue Behavior for Analysis and Engineering
November 13 – Course: Processing & Testing of Rubber
November 14 – Webinar: The Value of Mentorship
November 19-22 – Endurica Workshop: Application of Rubber Fatigue Analysis with Endurica Software
December 10 – Webinar: Gear Pump Technology in Rubber Application

Featured training from the Rubber Division includes:

October 3 – Course: Dynamic Viscoelastic Properties: This course starts with a very brief introduction to viscoelastic theories and models, but then shifts to an explanation of the viscoelastic properties of elastomers and how those properties can be measured. Attendees will learn about how tire performance can be predicted using dynamic mechanical analysis and how these testing methods can be applied to other non-tire applications as well. This course will also discuss how compounding ingredients such as the polymer, fillers, plasticizers and cure systems can each affect the viscoelastic properties of a rubber compound. Instructor: Paul Merda & Nicki Hershberger, ARDL

October 10 – Course: Rubber Extrusion Technology: The course will offer an overview of the variety of commercially viable rubber extrusion processes and examine their strengths and weaknesses. Next, we will go into a more in depth look at the three most common rubber extrusion processes i.e. Liquid Curing Media (LCM), better known as the Salt Bath process, Hot Air Vulcanization (HAV) and Microwave/Hot Air Vulcanization. The emphasis will be on practical knowledge that can be utilized in production. In all areas, specific safety concerns will be highlighted and addressed. Instructor: Richard Strong, Elastomeric Consulting Services

November 13 – Course: Processing & Testing of Rubber: Mixing, extrusion, molding and testing is the focus of this course. Different mixer types and rotors types will be reviewed. Extrusion, salt batch and other processing will be discussed along with how to troubleshoot processing problems. Compression, injection, transfer molding and other molding will be covered. The testing section includes quality control and more details on most rubber tests. Instructor: Paul Merda & Nicki Hershberger, ARDL
