February 11 – Elastomers for Selective Gas Separation, including Carbon Capture
This course is designed for researchers and technologists in both the rubber and membrane industries, since the use of various types of elastomeric membranes to permit selective permeation of gases will be presented. Of particular interest here will be the use of such elastomeric membranes to selectively remove CO2 (carbon capture) from various industrial waste streams, as well as from confined environments and biomedical devices. February 22 – Setting Up a Rubber Molding Process
This course is designed to show how to establish a rubber molding process based on cross link density. The course is designed to show the influence of cross link density on mechanical properties, as well as its influence on de-molding. The overall focus is the design of a rubber molding process that yields the most consistent properties. Click for full details.

February 23 – Mixing & Testing for Compound Consistency
This course is designed to provide participants an in depth understanding of the influence of the mixing process on the characteristics of the mixed compound. The focus of the training will be on reducing the batch to batch variation commonly associated with batch mixed rubber compounds. Detailed discussion will take place on storage and handling of raw materials and the influence of the storage environment on the properties of the rubber compound using them. We will cover the importance of sizing the rubber batch for the mixer and how to determine batch factors. Rubber test methods will be discussed in detail. The Association of Rubber Products Manufacturers Compound Consistency Guideline will be used to walk through each aspect of rubber compound manufacture. Click for full details.
