USTMA endorses infrastructure research provisions being considered by Congress

Washington, D.C. – The House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee began the mark up of H.R. 3684, the “Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act of 2021.” Several provisions within the legislation directly align with the sustainability policy objectives of the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) and help fill important research gaps in the scrap tire circularity market.

“The bill brought forward today by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee shows real promise to address both our current and future infrastructure needs,” said Anne Forristall Luke, USTMA president and CEO. “From increasing access to modern paving materials, to funding research that will give states and localities access to innovative technologies, there are many places where bipartisan agreement can be found, and I am pleased the committee has included those in the base text of the bill.”

USTMA issued a letter of support for specific provisions within the INVEST in America Act.

Last month, USTMA issued a letter identifying the policy priorities of the U.S. tire manufacturing community as Congressional leaders continue their negotiations with the White House.
