Monolith appoints Charles Firth as vice president of safety

Lincoln, NE – Monolith announced the appointment of Charles Firth, P.E., to the executive leadership team as the Vice President of Safety. With the addition of Firth, Monolith will continue to prioritize safety across the company, its operations and established and upcoming facilities.

Firth will be responsible for directing safety protocol and ensuring regulatory compliance across the company. He will lead, maintain and grow the safety team at the company’s Olive Creek 1 facility and upcoming Olive Creek 2 facility where construction will begin in Q1 2023. Prior to accepting the position at Monolith, Firth served as the Vice President of Environmental, Health & Safety at BKEP Materials in Denver, Colorado.

Monolith, which currently employs more than 200 people around the world, was founded in 2012 and developed a process technology that converts natural gas into clean hydrogen and solid carbon. Monolith then converts the carbon to carbon black, a critical raw material in the automotive and industrial sectors. Once completed, Monolith’s expansion is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 1 million tons/year while generating significant economic development, starting with approximately 1,000 jobs to support construction of its Olive Creek 2 facility in Hallam, Nebraska. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the operational facility will generate around 260 direct and 600 indirect, high-paying, highly skilled, green energy jobs to support its operations.
