Mitsui Chemicals earns ISCC PLUS certification for Actcol

Tokyo, Japan – Mitsui Chemicals Inc. has obtained ISCC PLUS certification for its ACTCOL™ polyol products produced at the company’s Nagoya Works, the firm announced Wednesday. The certification, awarded in January, confirms that the materials qualify as sustainable under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification system.

The company said the move is part of a broader effort to increase the use of biomass‑based and chemically recycled feedstocks through a mass balance approach. Mitsui Chemicals plans to continue expanding certification across its product lineup to support greater adoption of renewable materials and improve recycling rates in the plastics sector.

ACTCOL™, a polypropylene glycol (PPG), is used in applications ranging from flexible and rigid foams to elastomers, construction materials, adhesives, synthetic leather, and resin raw materials. Polymer polyols (POP) were also newly added to the list of products eligible to carry ISCC PLUS certification. With the latest additions, approximately 50 Mitsui Chemicals products now qualify under the program.

The company noted that its certified products form part of its BePLAYER™ and RePLAYER™ platforms, which promote bio‑based hydrocarbons and recycled derivatives produced via mass balance. Mitsui Chemicals said it remains committed to meeting ISCC requirements and avoiding double counting of environmental contributions.
