Advancing chemical migration analysis of wear particles
This article presents a structured laboratory approach to synthetic tire wear particle generation, chemical migration screening methodologies and analysis of water exposed to the wear particles. Controlled laboratory wear methods are used to simulate real world wear, followed by advanced analytical migration analysis, including gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) with solid phase microextraction (SPME) and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) elemental analysis.
