AEM Manufacturing Express to visit Carlisle TyrFil facility in Berea

Berea, OH — The Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ Manufacturing Express will stop at Carlisle TyrFil’s Berea facility on Sept. 16 as part of a national tour highlighting the people and companies behind U.S. equipment manufacturing.

The tour, organized by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, visits manufacturing facilities across the country to showcase the industry’s workforce and its role in local communities.

Carlisle TyrFil, located at 140 Sheldon Road in Berea, will host the tour as the company marks its 55th year in the polyurethane tire flatproofing industry. The company says it has produced more than 1 billion pounds of TyrFil flatproofing material since its founding in 1971.

The Sept. 16 event will include food, entertainment and interactive activities for employees, according to Carlisle TyrFil.

The visit comes as manufacturers across the United States face pressure to improve productivity, develop new technologies and maintain a skilled workforce. AEM represents companies involved in equipment manufacturing for industries including agriculture, construction, forestry, mining and utilities.

Carlisle TyrFil manufactures polyurethane products used to flatproof tires on off-the-road equipment. Its products are used in industries including construction, mining, agriculture, material handling and equipment rental.

The company has also expanded its focus on recycling. Its TyrFil Recycling Technology can incorporate as much as 65% recycled material into new tire fill, according to the company.

Carlisle TyrFil says its manufacturing operation has grown from its original flatproofing technology into a broader portfolio of products and equipment designed for industrial tires.

The Manufacturing Express is intended to put a spotlight on the workers behind that production, bringing the national tour directly to manufacturing facilities rather than focusing solely on finished products.

For Carlisle TyrFil, the Berea stop will also serve as a celebration of employees who have supported the company’s operations during more than five decades of manufacturing.

The company is part of Carlisle Cos., a publicly traded manufacturer with businesses spanning building products and other industrial markets.
