Brenntag publishes its first “Sustainability Insights” magazine

Essen, Germany – Brenntag has published the very first edition of its new ESG magazine “Sustainability Insights”. It provides a variety of insights into the company’s considerable progress towards zero-emission chemical distribution and presents various current and upcoming sustainability projects, initiatives, and research work.

In March 2023, Brenntag changed the format in which the company reports its progress in the field of sustainability, publishing the annual financial report that also includes non-financial results. To compliment and expand on this with a focus on its commitment to sustainability, Brenntag has created the “Sustainability Insights” magazine. On its 80 plus pages, the magazine features in-depth stories on various sustainability topics such as carbon management, solar projects, food research and social commitment.

Andreas Kicherer, Vice President Sustainability Brenntag Group: “With the publication of ‘Sustainability Insights and the stories it contains, we once again underline our company’s purpose, to foster a sustainable future and care for human needs. We created the magazine to showcase the variety of our projects and the broad involvement of various colleagues to a wide range of stakeholders. It also provides an ideal reflection of our sustainability targets, such as net zero CO₂ emissions by 2045. In order to achieve this goal, driving forward CO₂-reduced transportation at our company is a key priority.”

Brenntag is making significant progress towards its goal of CO₂-reduced distribution. The company is intensively field-testing new technologies to drive this change forward. For example, extensive tests with biofuels are starting at the site in Reading (Pennsylvania, USA) to discover how the biofuel ratio can be increased and optimized. In addition, 100 percent electric trucks are on the roads in selected countries, like in Brazil, to further explore the possibilities of CO₂-reduced distribution in pilot studies.
