Elkem announces RENOV project for a circular economy

The current economic model of the production and use of plastics and polymers in general still remains largely linear (i.e. take, make, waste). The main challenge of this industrial sector today lies in the transition to a circular economy that will limit environmental impacts, by collecting waste, recycling it and reintroducing it into the manufacturing chain. Cross-linked elastomeric materials are used in many applications because of their elastic, sealing and anti-vibration properties. However, unlike thermoplastic polymers, the recycling of such material is technologically more complex, as cured elastomers cannot be reused or reprocessed simply due to the specific properties related to crosslinking of their polymer chains.

Continental offers fleets new entry level solution for digital tire management

Continental is now offering an entry-level solution to equip fleets even quicker and easier for digital tire management. A new sensor makes it possible to obtain data on the condition of the tires in a very timesaving, simple, and manufacturer-independent manner. This allows them to run optimally adjusted, which leads to greater fuel efficiency and a longer tire life. Airbus presented full-year 2022 and is targeting 720 commercial jet deliveries in 2023. However, supply chain disruption remains the major challenge for airframers to achieve these targets. A320 neo family, B737Max, A350XWB, and B787 are the major contributors to the market. Expected increases in the production rates of these aircraft programs are likely to help the industry stakeholders achieve their pre-pandemic levels in the coming years.
