Total Cray Valley industrializes sustainably sourced Krasol diols

Total Cray Valley is expanding its hydroxyl-terminated diene resin portfolio with the industrial introduction of sustainably sourced farnesene-based resins, Krasol F3000 and Krasol F3100. The Krasol product line is known in the market as a source of well-defined hydroxyl-terminated liquid poly(butadiene) diol and monol grades. These materials are used in a variety of end-use applications as components in urethane, epoxy and UV-cured adhesive and sealant formulations for the automotive and electronic markets. The diene backbone incorporates hydrophobic quality and chemical resistance, as well as elastomeric softness and low-temperature performance.

Wacker will manufacture upstream products for building protection agents and binders at its Nünchritz site

Wacker Group has started to build a liquid resins unit at its Nünchritz site. This unit will supply key upstream products for formulating silicone based building protection agents and binders for exterior paints and industrial coatings. At the moment, only Wacker’s Burghausen site produces these substances. Scheduled to go on stream at the end of 2022, the new unit will close important material loops and so further increase the cost-effectiveness of Wacker’s integrated production system. Capital spending amounts to some €30 million.

Bridgestone survey reveals Americans trust car travel more this summer

With the summer travel season starting this week, a survey conducted by Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) reveals more than half of Americans plan to travel only by car this summer to reach their vacation destinations. Nearly four in five respondents said they feel safer in a car than on a plane, and nearly one-third said they plan to travel more than 500 miles by car this summer.

Bridgestone expands Williamsburg, Kentucky, Firestone Industrial Products plant

Bridgestone Americas announced it is expanding the company’s Williamsburg, KY, air springs manufacturing plant. The $51 million investment in the Firestone Industrial Products’ plant will help meet market demand in the automotive vehicle market with a focus on the electric vehicle sector. The expansion of the facility is expected to break ground the second quarter of this year and wrap up by the end of 2022.

Pirelli to produce world’s first FSC certified tire

Pirelli will be the first company in the world to produce a range of FSC certified (Forest Stewardship Council) tires designed for the BMW X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid. These tires contain FSC certified natural rubber and rayon, and represent a new horizon for increasingly sustainable tire production. The new tire will be produced exclusively at Pirelli’s Rome factory in Georgia.
