The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company released its annual report on corporate responsibility performance. Despite the challenges from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the report summarizes the company’s actions in 2020 that demonstrate its continued commitment to ethical and sustainable processes, materials and programs.

With the summer travel season starting this week, a survey conducted by Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) reveals more than half of Americans plan to travel only by car this summer to reach their vacation destinations. Nearly four in five respondents said they feel safer in a car than on a plane, and nearly one-third said they plan to travel more than 500 miles by car this summer.

Bridgestone Americas announced it is expanding the company’s Williamsburg, KY, air springs manufacturing plant. The $51 million investment in the Firestone Industrial Products’ plant will help meet market demand in the automotive vehicle market with a focus on the electric vehicle sector. The expansion of the facility is expected to break ground the second quarter of this year and wrap up by the end of 2022.

Elite Elastomers, Inc., a specialty rubber compounder, announced that Andy Claytor has joined the firm as vice president of sales to lead Elite Elastomers’ growth in the custom rubber mixing industry. Claytor will oversee the development of Elite Elastomers’ sales, marketing and customer service organizations, building upon a strong foundation put in place by Steve Glidewell, the company’s founder.

The conference is being held the week of August 30 through September 3, and will utilize a virtual format again this year. Conference sessions are scheduled for the morning hours in the Akron (EDT) time zone (afternoon in Europe and evening in Asia) to encourage global participation.
