The Rubber Division, ACS offers a Rubber Technology Training Award for an individual already in the rubber industry seeking additional education and opportunities for advancement. The Division also has three $5,000 undergraduate scholarships available for students who wish to pursue a degree in rubber technology, polymer science or the chemical profession.

DUNLOP has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cabot Corporation to evaluate the commercial adoption of circular reinforcing carbons made with Cabot’s patented regenerated carbon technology. This innovative circular reinforcing carbon powered by Cabot’s EVOLVE Sustainable Solutions incorporates reclaimed carbon derived from the pyrolysis of end-of-life tires and is being considered as a sustainable raw material for Sumitomo Rubber’s tire production.

Yokohama announces layoffs and curtailing of production at Virginia plant

Yokohama Tire announced that the company plans to significantly reduce tire production at its manufacturing plant in Salem, VA. The plant has been in operation since the 1960s and has produced tires for Yokohama since the company’s acquisition of Mohawk Rubber Company in 1989.
The reduction in tire production will result in the layoff of approximately 392 hourly and salaried employees at the Salem facility. Salaried employees affected by the decision will receive layoff benefits under existing company policies
