A new type of mechanical sensor, developed by researchers led by Marc Serra-​Garcia and ETH Zurich geophysics professor Johan Robertsson, could now provide a remedy. Its creators have already applied for a patent for their invention and have now presented the principle in the journal Advanced Functional Materials.

The Latex Conference 2024 – an educational in-person event being held on May 14, 2024, at 9 AM EST at the Fairlawn/Akron Hilton in Akron, Ohio. The Latex Conference 2024 provides a formal and informal exchange of information designed to increase the total knowledge of the latex industry and provide opportunities for networking with latex industry professionals. 

Continental has decided on further measures to strengthen the competitiveness of its Automotive group sector. These measures aim to increase the efficiency of Automotive’s global research and development network. By the end of 2025 at the latest, a number of the group sector’s 82 current development locations will be streamlined, its existing infrastructures better utilized through the pooling of development units, and synergies in work processes leveraged. The efficiency measures will affect around 1,750 jobs worldwide, including 380 at software subsidiary Elektrobit. The adjustments will be implemented gradually and as socially responsible as possible in line with local conditions.

Continental has carried out more than a million trips on its fully automated tire braking test facility known as the AIBA (Automated Indoor Braking Analyzer) since 2012. The facility, which is unique worldwide, enables precisely reproducible test processes to check the performance of new car and van tires on different road surfaces – dry and wet – under laboratory conditions. Its advantages lie not only in the special test environment. In the facility, unmanned, rail-guided vehicles are automatically accelerated to speeds of up to 120 km/h along a track almost 100 meters long. They are then braked autonomously on a 75-meter-long braking track. No fuel is required for this process
