Michelin unveils the world’s first two tires approved for road use containing 45% and 58% of sustainable materials, respectively
Michelin, the principal owner of Scandinavian Enviro System is the first tire manufacturer in the world to unveil tires with a high proportion of environmentally sustainable materials that have been approved for use on ordinary road vehicles. These include a tire for buses and a tire for cars, where the car tire contains recovered carbon black from Enviro, among other materials.

The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) announced Carbon’s EPU 44 has won the 2022 Polyurethane Innovation Award. The Innovation Award is renowned throughout the polyurethane industry and recognizes companies and individuals whose visions and perseverance bring new innovative, life-enhancing products, technologies, and initiatives to the marketplace.

Yokohama Tire Corporation announced it will implement a price increase on its commercial truck tires sold in the U.S., effective November 1. The increase is due to continued rise in costs associated with operations.

Molecular Rebar Design, LLC (MRD) has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II grant from the U.S. Department of Energy-Office of Science to develop, build, and test prototype tires for electric vehicles (EVs) using organosilane functionalized carbon nanotubes. The tires will be built and tested by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

Jim Finn, currently president of Akron Dispersions, will assume his new role as President Emeritus on December 15th, 2022. Finn joined Akron Dispersions in 1993 and has been president since 2004. Finn’s role will be one of consultation and advisement drawing on his 54 years in the latex industry.

This college football season, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is celebrating the fans and players that venture from their home stadiums to take on the challenges of road games each week. To gain an inside look at the drive it takes to win on the road, Goodyear and The Player’s Tribune surveyed 68 former Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players to uncover college football’s toughest road environments and fan traditions.
