GBIE opens new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility

The new 64,000 sq ft facility, located in Windsor, Ontario, is a completely new build that has been carefully designed to maximize efficiency and houses a large R&D laboratory. It is outfitted with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and embraces a strong culture of safety with eco-efficient designs implemented to minimize waste and reduce the operational carbon footprint, including a rainwater capture system for use in cleaning processes. This major investment allows GBIE to accommodate growing customer demand with an immediate doubling in production capacity and predesigned capability to easily integrate further equipment as needed for an eightfold increase in production capacity.

Bridgestone and Michelin to deliver a joint presentation on proposed global standard for recovered carbon black

Following the joint call to action around recovered carbon black at last year’s Smithers rCB conference, Bridgestone Corporation and Michelin Group will deliver a joint presentation to share the results of their work with stakeholders in the rCB community to develop a proposed global standard to increase the utilization of recovered carbon black material in tires. The joint presentation will take place at the Smithers Recovered Carbon Black Conference in Berlin on November 16, 2022.

Yokohama Rubber announces record high third quarter results

he Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced its business and financial results for the first three quarters (January to September) of fiscal 2022. Yokohama Rubber’s sales revenue and business profit reached record high levels for the first three quarters. Profit attributable to owners of parent declined 23.4% from the same period of the previous year, to 33.3 billion yen, on a 23.6% decline in operating profit, to 45.3 billion yen; a 24.2% increase in business profit, to 46.1 billion yen; and a 33.7% increase in sales revenue, to 615.8 billion yen.
