– Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) announced the opening of Hankook Technoring, a new proving ground in Taean, South Korea. The largest proving ground in Asia, it will serve as a state-of-the-art R&D facility for Hankook’s most advanced products to come.

To meet growing demand for silicone rubber, Wacker Chemie AG is accelerating the expansion of its production capacities. Investment projects to this end are either in the planning stage or are nearing completion. Significant capacity expansions for liquid silicone rubber (LSR) will be available in the second half of this year, and will come into full effect in 2023. Increasing production volumes for high consistency rubber (HCR) are also scheduled. With expansion measures at several other sites, WACKER will gradually increase its capacities for HCR and LSR grades significantly in the next few years. Over € 100 million have been earmarked for this capacity boost.

At this year’s Tire Technology Expo in Hannover, Germany, VMI launches the VMI REVOLUTE. The VMI REVOLUTE automatic bead apex assembly system, designed to complement VMI’s existing bead apexing solution, speeds production time per item (almost double that of the next best performing VMI system) and opens up new options for tire design and performance (higher apex than any other on the market, greater variety of compounds), whilst delivering increased levels of automation.

In two separate incidents on consecutive days in November 2021, three workers at a southern Illinois tire plant suffered severe injuries in incidents associated with a mixer containing a combustible dust and a flammable gas, guarding moving equipment and the failure to implement and enforce procedures to control the unintentional energization of equipment during servicing.

The Board of Directors of Apollo Tyres approved the company’s audited financial results for the fourth quarter (January to March) and the financial year 2021 – 22. The Board recommended a dividend payout of Rs 3.25 per equity share (325%), to be approved by the shareholders at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting.
