Dow and Beyond Benign, a nonprofit organization focused on making green chemistry an integral part of education, announce an expanded multi-year collaboration. Building upon a foundation of cooperation, both organizations aim to advance chemistry education by empowering educators with the tools and resources to incorporate green chemistry into higher education curricula.

Dow has formulated a breakthrough option of polyolefin elastomers (POE) based artificial leather – a solution to address the automotive industry’s need to shift towards increasingly animal-free product alternatives to leather.

The POE alternative leather option has been commercialized by HIUV Materials Technology, a China-based partner and qualified by an electric car manufacturer in their auto seatings application.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it is supplying its ADVAN Sport V107 tires as original equipment (OE) for the new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé, which was presented in December 2023. The Coupé is being fitted with 265/40ZR19 (102Y) front tires and 295/35ZR19 (104Y) rear tires.

The acquisition remained subject among other things to regulatory approval. Krones has now received that approval with no conditions. The acquisition of the injection molding technology company is thus final. Krones will consolidate Netstal in the Filling and Packaging Technology segment as from 28 March 2024. In the financial year 2023, Netstal generated revenue of more than €200 million with around 560 employees. Netstal’s operating profitability is currently below that of the Krones Group.

The Wheel Group (TWG) has voluntarily halted sales for all non mud-terrain tires of its AMP Tires brand. This action applies to all sizes of AMP Terrain Pro A/T, AMP Terrain Attack A/T, and AMP Terrain Attack R/T tires.

These tires meet the TUV SUD UNECE R-117 testing standard necessary to designate the tires as all-weather tires and display the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol in the European Union. However, they do not meet the snow traction testing standards required by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or Transport Canada and, therefore, cannot display the 3PMSF symbol in U.S. and Canadian markets. The AMP Terrain Attack M/T tires are exempt from this action as they are not marked with the 3PMSF symbol.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company recently launched the new three-star RL-5K Off-the-Road (OTR) tire for large wheel loaders and wheel dozers. The RL-5K is Goodyear’s newest radial OTR tire in the 45/65R45 tire size and is constructed to withstand the air pressure necessary to deliver an increased three-star load capacity, which translates to a 16% increase in load carrying capacity.1 The RL-5K with three-star capacity also features a deep, 250-level durable tread to deliver cut resistance and traction in severe underfoot conditions.
