The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it has begun applying its proprietary “E+” mark on its tires for trucks and buses. The “E+” mark, which indicates the tire has special qualities suitable for electrified vehicles, was first applied to YOKOHAMA passenger car tires in the latter half of 2023 in a move to strengthen the appeal of YOKOHAMA tires for electrified vehicles. The first truck or bus tires to bear the “E+” mark will be a tire sold for use on buses in Japan and another one for buses in Europe.

Sumitomo Rubber North America, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd., announces that Sam Williams has been named National Sales Manager (West) for Commercial Truck tires.

Williams has spent more than 30 years working in the automotive aftermarket industry, with experience in sales, store management, multi-unit management, business development, marketing, operations, buying, merchandising, strategic planning, and vendor relations. Williams has been with SRNA since 2016, most recently working as a Senior Strategic Account Manager.

Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) announced it has teamed up with top Canadian Superbike Championship riders Ben Young and Trevor Daley to form Team BATTLAX, which will debut at the 82nd running of the Daytona 200 March 7-9, 2024, at Daytona International Speedway. Team BATTLAX will compete on a pair of identical custom Suzuki Canada GSX-R750 builds featuring Bridgestone BATTLAX race tires.

Yokohama Tire has added California State Parks Foundation to its expanding list of environmental-related partnerships. Yokohama is also working with Tread Lightly! and Surfrider North Orange County on several projects to protect and maintain the ecosystem, from the desert to the ocean.

The tires being supplied as OE for the new Forester were developed by utilizing specialized tuning to match their tread pattern, profile, and tire structure to the vehicle characteristics, while also using Yokohama Rubber’s proprietary HAICoLab, an AI-based development framework that aims to foster new discoveries and digital innovation by merging human inspiration and creativity with AI’s enormous data processing capability. To achieve the highly quiet ride, an optimal pitch sequence was obtained using evolutionary computation (genetic algorithms), one of the technologies incorporated in HAICoLab. The innovative technologies applied in development of the GEOLANDAR G91 are based on new knowledge obtained by collecting actual data and virtual data generated by simulations and then using AI’s predict, analyze and search functions.
