Elkem develops new specialized iron-silicon powder for 3D printing components for electrical motors

Through an EU-funded project together with research- and customer partners, Elkem has developed a new specialized iron silicon powder, which may allow 3D-printing of components for electrical motors.
In the SOMA project (Lightweight solutions for e-mobility by AM for soft magnetic alloys), Elkem together with the project partners VTT (coordinator), Siemens, Stellantis and Gemmate Technologies have developed powder for use in 3D printing.
The powder is so-called soft magnetic, meaning that it is easy to magnetize and de-magnetize, which is important in electrical motors.

Ralf Benack named managing director for KraussMaffei’s Extrusion EMEA

KraussMaffei announces that Rafl Benack is the new managing director of Extrusion EMEA as of January 1st, 2024. As Managing Director, he is responsible for the Extrusion EMEA’s business and the development of the Extrusion technology worldwide.

Ralf Benack comes from Continental AG, where he worked for almost 20 years, most recently heading the tire management solutions business for commercial end users in EMEA. Prior to that, the economics graduate was responsible for sales and marketing of truck tires in the Asia-Pacific region as well as project management in research and development for tires at Continental.

Toyo Tires exhibits concept tire that uses 90 percent sustainable materials

At the Tokyo Auto salon Toyo Tires presented its Sustainable Concept Tire. The tire, using 90% sustainable materials is a step forward towards a more viable future mobility. Until now, the highest ever usage rate of sustainable materials in one of our tires was 50%. This achievement was made in the Open Country tires used in the 2024 Dakar Rallye. This latest development, unveiled today, dramatically surpasses this share.
