Two of its outstanding leaders will be honored by the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers, Inc. (IISRP) at its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). The prestigious IISRP General Award will be awarded posthumously to Mr. Daniel P. French of French Oil Machinery Company, and Dr. Sven Thiele from Synthos Group will be honored with the coveted Technical Award. The presentation of both awards will be formally made on May 7, 2024, during the 64th IISRP Annual General Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.

Guill Tool recently announced the hire of two new employees. Nick Comeau and Brandon Ribeiro join Guill as Design Engineers. The announcement was made by Chuck Paull, Chief Marketing Officer, at the company’s West Warwick, Rhode Island headquarters.

Falken has unveiled the AZENIS RS820 – a new ultra-ultra-high-performance (UUHP) tire. The new pattern has been designed to offer responsive handling, balanced wet and dry grip and impressive feel on both road and track.

The Rebelle Rally, entering its eighth year, is the longest competitive off-road rally in the United States. The world-class event is an endurance competition for women that traverses over 2,500 kilometers through Nevada and California’s iconic terrain. Precision driving and navigation, not speed, are the ultimate goal. The competition is innovative and unique using maps, compass, roadbooks, and strategy – known as Rebelle Format. Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. announced that Mike Snyder has been promoted to vice president of sales. Snyder previously served as the sr. director of sales, strategic accounts and has played an integral role in sales leadership at the company. Starting his career with Toyo in 1993, Snyder brings 30 years of knowledge and experience to his new role.

Following the joint call to action around recovered carbon black at the 2021 Smithers rCB conference, Bridgestone Corporation and Michelin Group have published a joint technical white paper to share the results of their work with stakeholders in the rCB community to develop a proposed global standard to increase the utilization of recovered carbon black material in tires. The CEOs of 10 leading tire manufacturers gathered this week to confirm a two-year Tire Industry Project (TIP) workplan focused on research and action for sustainability in the tire lifecycle, including tire-emission research and end-of-life tire management.

TIP’s workplan for 2024 and 2025 builds on its established program of scientific research with enhanced action and stakeholder engagement across projects relevant to environmental, social and governance (ESG) in the tire sector.
