Yokohama’s ADVAN tires to come factory-equipped on the new Lexus RX

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it is supplying its ADVAN V61 tires to Lexus for use as original equipment (OE) tires on the fifth-generation RX. The luxury SUV has undergone a complete renewal, pursuing the Lexus Driving Signature performance and next-generation Lexus design. Launched in Japan and overseas, including Europe, from this November, the new RX is being fitted with 235/60R19 103V size ADVAN V61 tires.

Trelleborg acquires automotive boots market leader in India

Trelleborg Group has, through its business area Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, signed an agreement to acquire an operation specializing in automotive boots for the fast-growing Indian light vehicles market. The operation is part of the India-based privately owned company Injectoplast. The acquisition means that Trelleborg further strengthens its globally leading market position in automotive boots. The company has its head office and manufacturing in Kanpur, in the north of India, close to a light vehicle manufacturing cluster, and has annual sales of approximately SEK 70 M.

Covestro starts up new production line for Vulkollan raw materials in Thailand

Covestro recently started up the production of Naphthylen-Diisocyanate (NDI) for the Vulkollan® raw material at a newly built plant in its Map Ta Phut site in Thailand. The groundbreaking of the plant happened almost exactly two years ago, in late 2020. The investment was in the high mid double-digit million Euro range and is part of several investments of the company into cast polyurethane raw materials, for example at its Spanish site near Barcelona or at its site in Caojing near Shanghai in China.

Hankook to unveil the iON race tire at the Essen Motor Show

Hankook will present the new iON race Formula E tire to the public for the first time at the Essen Motor Show. As an exclusive technical partner and tire supplier to Formula E, Hankook developed the new tire in close cooperation with the racing series and met the sustainability standards of Hankook and Formula E. The tire will make its debut in the next season at Mexico City E-Prix on January 14, 2023. Around 30 percent of the new tire, which is tailor-made for the third-generation Formula E race cars, consists of sustainable materials. End users also benefit from racing developments: Findings from the racetrack flow into the production tires of the iON product family, which includes summer and winter profiles especially designed for the resource-saving mobility of modern premium electric vehicles.
