The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) announced two CPI Distinguished Leadership Award recipients: Nigel Barksby of Covestro and Mary Bogdan of Honeywell. These awards were presented during the awards luncheon at the 2022 Polyurethanes Technical Conference in National Harbor, Md.

Holcim has completed the acquisition of the Polymers Sealants North America (PSNA) division of Illinois Tool Works. PSNA is a leader in coating, adhesive and sealant solutions with 2022 estimated net sales of USD 100 million. With more than 150 employees and manufacturing plants in California, Arizona, Texas, Georgia and Massachusetts, PSNA will accelerate the growth of Solutions & Products, especially in waterproofing and coatings. PSNA’s innovation-driven approach is highly complementary to Holcim’s existing building envelope business and is expected to generate significant synergies.

Wickert has defined two focus topics at K 2022: Industry 4.0 connection of press systems via OPC UA interface and plastics processing in the cleanroom. At their booth, they will show real time data from the production of molded rubber parts. A press will be used to illustrate the special features of cleanroom technology.

The silicone elastomers technology and fabrication course will be held January 31 through February 3, 2023 at California State Polytechnic University Pomona. Six LSR industry experts will share their expertise in the fields of chemistry, mold building, demolding, fluid dispensing, equipment and processing liquid silicone rubber. This 4-day course includes a full day at M.R. Mold & Engineering where attendees will work at the molding machines with the instructors, putting to use what has been learned in the classroom.

Huntsman will return to the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry’s annual Polyurethanes Technical Conference this October along with representatives from the University of Delaware, who are sharing the company’s booth space.
