ENGEL AUSTRIA GmbH has expanded its technical center in St. Valentin, Austria, with one of the largest injection molding machines from its standard portfolio: the duo 5500 combi M. With a clamping force of 55,000 kN, it is by far the largest technical center machine in the world, measuring 32 meters long, 13 meters wide, 6.8 meters high, and weighing 545 tons. ENGEL aims to use this machine to enable technologies and components in completely new dimensions in collaboration with its customers and partners. The extra-large mold space accommodates molds weighing up to 150 tons, with possible shot weights up to 42 kg.

General Silicones Co., Ltd. (GS) announces an innovative application of its Compo-SiL® decorative film in the production of membrane keypads. GS introduces enhanced design flexibility, improved durability, and superior hygiene into keypad manufacturing by integrating this sophisticated silicone film with in-mold decoration processes. Demonstrating the practicality and effectiveness of Compo-SiL® silicone technology, GS has developed reference prototypes to aid manufacturers and brands in evaluating the benefits silicone surfaces can bring to their keypad product lines.

The acquisition of RGD expands Arclin’s capabilities in North America and is viewed as a key step in the company’s strategy toward expanding its product presence into sectors that are adjacent to its core chemistries and business. The new Arclin business will operate RGD’s plants in Candiac, Quebec and Cedartown, GA and the acquisition will add approximately 150 new team members to Arclin’s existing 850-person team.

PRE-Q® GALGO Corporation hit the road to promote retreading at not one, but two school bus trade shows, back-to-back, over the course of two weeks. The first show, the Illinois Association for Pupil Transportation Conference & Trade Show in Springfield, IL, on June 19, 2024, was a resounding success with a record-breaking attendance. This high level of interest in retreading is a clear indication of the growing recognition of its benefits.

The new Proxes Sport A/S+ tire will be produced in 80 sizes with 17- to 22-inch wheel diameters and W, Y, and (Y) speed ratings with fitments for sport cars, CUVs, and SUVs, while carrying a 50,000-mile treadwear warranty and a 45-Day/500-Mile Trial Offer. The first Proxes Sport A/S+ sizes will be available starting in July 2024. Additional planned sizes, including Toyo’s first High Load (HL) capacity tires, are planned to release later in 2024 and early 2025. Popular fitments include Audi cars and SUVs, BMW cars and SUVs, Ford Mustang and Mustang Mach-E, Nissan Z, Tesla Model 3, X, and Y, and the Toyota GR Supra.

General Tire is to equip the new Mercedes-AMG G63, the sports version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with original equipment tires. This ultra-high-performance SUV from the AMG tuner forge will be exclusively fitted with 20-inch General Tire Grabber HTS60 summer tires from the factory. The tire is designed to ensure maximum safety, both on and off the road.
