Evonik is launching the first product from its new range of next generation of TEGO® RC solutions: TEGO® RC 2000 LCF. Made using recycled silicone feedstocks, the new release coating can be cured using either the less energy intensive UV LED or traditional UV Arc lamps, helping label producers lower their carbon footprint to meet growing sustainability ambitions.

The 2023 Lavoisier Medalist is Deyan Wang, Ph.D., Senior Research Laureate, DuPont Electronics & Industrial. The Lavoisier Medal for Lifetime Technical Achievement recognizes scientists and engineers who have demonstrated a career of creative technical contributions with significant business impact. The Lavoisier Medal is named in honor of the 18th century French chemist, Antoine Laurent Lavoisier, who is considered the father of modern chemistry.

The 2023 Pedersen Award recipients are Paul Bernatis, Ph.D., Technical Laureate, DuPont Electronics & Industrial; Reiyao Zhu, Ph.D., Technical Laureate, and Jon Johnson, Ph.D., Engineering Laureate, both from DuPont Water & Protection. The Pedersen Award is chosen by a select team of Laureates, a group of the highest technical professionals. The medalists’ deep technical knowledge, skill, achievements, and commitment in their respective areas have resulted in important new products for DuPont customers. The Pedersen Award is named in honor of DuPont’s Nobel Laureate, Charles J. Pedersen, who received the 1987 Nobel Prize for his discovery of a novel class of chemical compounds called macrocyclic polyethers, which he dubbed the “crown” ethers because of their molecular shape.

In the Minneapolis Tech Theater session, “Advancements in Extreme High Aspect Ratio Micro Molding,” Hahn will explore how a variety of resins—from traditional, high-flow materials to difficult-to-process materials such as PEEK and FEP—can be used to create fully filled cannula and catheter tips without flash and without secondary operations that measure 0.001 in. (25 microns) and reach extreme aspect ratios (L/T) as high as 400:1.

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies is launching a crucial product innovation for the automotive industry: an impermeable rectangular busbar overmold that seals reliably and helps prevent damage to an electric vehicle’s power electronics. The solution also reduces assembly complexity by combining the busbars, seal and guide in one complete package that is ready for installation on the vehicle assembly line. The new product will be showcased for the first time at this week’s Battery Show in Detroit.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that it is supplying its GEOLANDAR X-CV tires as original equipment (OE) for Toyota Motor Corporation’s first-ever Grand Highlander Midsize SUV, which was launched in North America in June 2023. The Grand Highlander is being fitted with 255/65R18 111H and 255/55R20 107V size tires.

The LEGO Group pledged to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 as part of its continued efforts to reduce environmental impact. The company has submitted its intention to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and will work with the SBTi to develop a target which will cover Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions.
