Circular Rubber Platform launches Circular Rubber Marketplace to transform rubber waste into new products
Zwolle, The Netherlands – Circular Rubber Platform (CRP), a knowledge platform with a global community of rubber specialists, builds tools to support a circular rubber economy. After organizing monthly webinars and maintaining a knowledge portal since January 2024, announced the launch of its new Circular Rubber Marketplace.
Each year, millions of tonnes of rubber waste are incinerated due to a lack of viable recycling channels and invisibility of quality waste streams. Rubber product manufacturers face high disposal costs and limited insight into where their waste ends up, while recyclers struggle to access consistent, high-quality rubber waste streams to recycle.
In the last 12 months, CRP ran a pilot and identified over 3,000,000 kg of rubber waste that is currently being incinerated. Thanks to their efforts, 205,500 kg of this waste has already been redirected to recyclers who are now turning it into new, valuable products.
On October 1st, CRP is launching an online space where manufacturers can upload their waste streams while certified recyclers can offer collection for recycling, or recycling as a service.
The Marketplace will enable: Rubber manufacturers to upload their waste streams and get quotations for reuse or recycling of their waste, rather than incineration.
Recyclers to request samples, test materials, and offer recycling quotations. Once a match is made, both parties pay a small fee for the hot lead: a small investment for a big environmental return
CRP invites Rubber manufacturers to present their waste streams so they can put them on the platform when it is ready, and already start introducing it within their current network of recyclers. Rubber recyclers to present their interest in bidding on vulcanized or unvulcanized rubber waste streams, to be the first to respond.
