Continental introduces Conti Synchrotwin belt family
Fairlawn, OH – Continental’s group sector ContiTech today announced the expansion of its synchronous belt portfolio with the introduction of the Conti® Synchrotwin™ family of double-sided synchronous belts. The new platform will gradually replace the company’s current Dual Sided High-Performance Belt offering while providing customers with a broader product range, increased availability and enhanced performance capabilities.
Designed for demanding applications requiring power transmission in both directions, the Conti Synchrotwin family offers higher horsepower capacity compared to standard power transmission belt designs, enabling more efficient power transfer in compact drive systems. High-performance reinforcement cords deliver exceptional tensile strength and dimensional stability under load, helping maintain precise synchronization and consistent power transmission throughout the belt’s service life.
“The introduction of the Conti Synchrotwin platform strengthens our synchronous belt offering by combining expanded product availability with enhanced performance and reliability,” said Roberto D’Agostino, Product Manager, Synchronous Belts, Industrial Solutions Americas, ContiTech. “Customers will benefit from a broader range of solutions that help improve efficiency, simplify upgrades and support demanding power transmission applications.”
The Conti Synchrotwin platform is engineered with industry-standard tooth profiles that are compatible with existing 5M, 8M and 14M HTD sprockets, helping customers transition with minimal system modifications. Its precision dual-sided tooth construction and wear-resistant fabric on both sides of the belt provide reliable performance and durability in demanding operating conditions.
The expanded platform significantly increases the number of available and stocked part numbers, providing customers with greater flexibility when selecting solutions for a wide range of synchronous drive applications. .
The Conti Synchrotwin family includes three configurations designed to address varying performance requirements:
Conti® Synchrotwin Standard: Featuring a length-stable glass cord tension member, the standard version delivers reliable performance and cost-effective operation for low- to medium-power applications.
Conti® Synchrotwin CXP: The CXP version incorporates a high-performance synthetic rubber compound engineered to provide increased rigidity and enhanced performance in more demanding applications.
Conti® Synchrotwin CXA: For the highest performance requirements, the CXA version utilizes a high-strength aramid tension member to maximize dimensional stability and support demanding operating conditions.
Because both sides of the belt feature identical tooth profiles, no special pulleys are required, helping reduce installation time and system costs.
The Conti Synchrotwin family offers:
• Available in lengths up to 6,000 mm.
• Compact drive solutions that help save space and reduce system weight.
• Maintenance-free operation with no need for coolants or lubricants.
• Temperature resistance from minus 20 C to 100 C for specified applications.
• Oil resistance and ozone resistance in accordance with applicable industry standards.
• Antistatic performance according to ISO 9563 and PAH Category 2 compliance according to 2014 AfPS GS:01.
The Conti Synchrotwin family is suitable for a wide range of applications, including ride-on mowers, gardening equipment, textile machinery, packaging machinery, machine tools, pumps, office machines, printing presses and assembly units.
Customers can expect improved power transmission capabilities, broad application compatibility and the reliability that has long been associated with Continental’s synchronous belt technology.
