Continental presents at TOC Europe in Rotterdam

Hanover, Germany – After a two-year break due to Corona, Continental presented itself at TOC Europe in Rotterdam under the motto “Movementum.” TOC Europe took place June 14-16 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The world’s ports are central transshipment hubs for global flows of goods: crises such as Covid-19 and uncertain supply chains are creating a tense market situation. Increasing demand and port congestion is leading to greater utilization of port vehicles, resulting in new challenges for port operators. Continental’s product and service portfolio aims to effectively support the expansion and intelligent networking of international port logistics. With a comprehensive range of tires and intelligent tire management solutions, Continental offers solutions for individual requirements. Continental tires used in daily port operations are characterized by safety, optimized performance, positive environmental effects and significant cost-lowering potential.

With the launch of the 2019 radial tire portfolio, Continental has completed its product range for port applications. It has also gained extensive experience in the market over the past years. These tires have been specially designed for demanding load & carry applications. Julian Alexander, Product Line Manager at Continental Commercial Specialty Tires for port applications, says, “This product expansion makes Continental unique in that radial, bias and solid tires can be supplied, enabling it to equip the entire fleet in the port. Our technical customer service is in close contact with fleet managers to ensure that the tires are optimally suited to the applications of the terminal vehicles. Whether it’s for pick & stack or load & carry needs.”

All Continental radial tires for port vehicles are equipped with a sensor ex works, making them ready for use with Continental’s own ContiConnect tire management system. The update of the digital tire monitoring system ContiConnect 2.0 provides the port industry with a new version for the holistic, digital tire management of the future. ContiConnect 2.0 increases safety and enables maximum cost transparency. “Terminal operators and fleet managers benefit from fewer vehicle breakdowns, lower maintenance costs and higher mileage,” says Julian Alexander. In addition to ContiConnect’s previous functions, the new version offers fleet customers the option to track their tires as an asset, to monitor tires via Bluetooth devices in a more convenient way and tapping into predictive maintenance. The fleet manager in port operations has a quick and convenient overview of the entire fleet – regardless of the location of the vehicles. The platform and system update is expected to be rolled out globally during the second half 2022.
