Continental supplies PremiumContact 6 and SportContact 6 for the Polestar 2

Hanover, Germany – The Polestar 2 is coming ex work with Continental PremiumContact 6 and SportContact 6 tires in size 245/40 R20. Both tires are approved for speeds up to 240 km/h and have an XL mark for a higher maximum load.

The PremiumContact 6 is specially designed for sporty and comfortable driving, but thanks to its low rolling resistance it can also increase the range of electric vehicles. Continental’s tire engineers developed a new compound which ensures excellent grip performance on dry and wet road surfaces, enabling the PremiumContact 6 to combine precise steering response and safety characteristics. Compared to the previous model, the mileage is 15 percent better, the rolling resistance is five percent lower and the external rolling noise has been reduced by ten percent. The tires supplied by Continental for the Polestar 2 have a best-possible EU tire label rating of A in the wet grip category – appropriate for this car, which scored a top five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test.

The SportContact 6 features outstanding performance on dry and wet surfaces as well and ensures a high level of stability and braking performance – even at high speeds. The tread pattern ensures excellent steering precision, especially when cornering under lateral forces.

Continental’s tires supplied ex work for the Polestar 2 come with ContiSilent technology for an especially quiet driving experience. In these tires a layer of polyurethane foam is applied to the inner surface to dampen the vibrations from driving. This considerably reduces the constituents of the rolling noise in the vehicle interior, which are perceived as especially irritating. ContiSilent is compatible with all commercially available rims and has no negative effects on a vehicle’s performance, fuel consumption, maximum load or maximum speed.
