Disk sharpness and condition: A critical factor in abrasion measurement

by Marzieh Salehi, VMI Holland B.V.
The LAT100 (laboratory abrasion tester) is frequently used for abrasion and frictional properties testing of tread rubber compounds. The common LAT100 abrasion test methodology is standardized according to ISO 23233. The ISO procedure is carried out in two sequences of test runs (1 to 9 and 9 to 1) with two recurrences in each running side of the rubber wheel, namely right (R) and left (L). In total, four repetitions for each test run (i.e., 36 test runs for each rubber compound) are included.
