Lord announces notice of dry ground quinone dioxime (QDO) global hazard reclassification

Cary, NC – It is anticipated that dry ground QDO (quinone dioxime, CAS Number 105-11-3) will be reclassified as a hazard Class 1 Explosive, Division 1.4 Minor Blast Hazard, Compatibility Group C, effective June-July 2021.

Currently, Parker-Lord has made the request to keep QDO’s current classification via the application for a DOT Special Permit “To authorize the transport in commerce of a certain explosive (quinone dioxime) as a flammable solid (modes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).” The U.S. DOT special permit application 21215-N was published in the May 10 Federal Register at https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2021-05-10/pdf/2021-09824.pdf.
