Original equipment manufacturer design flaws and bottlenecks for rubber seals
Rubber World spoke to Naomichi Taketa, account manager at NewtonWorks Corporation, to explore the persistent bottlenecks in original equipment manufacturer (OEM) seal development, from common early design assumptions that lead to late stage rework, to structural gaps between sales, design and laboratory teams. Also examined is how advances in simulation methodology and workflow integration are beginning to shift rubber seal development toward a more evidence based, standardized engineering process, bringing elastomer design closer to the maturity already seen in other material systems.
