In March 2023, Brenntag changed the format in which the company reports its progress in the field of sustainability, publishing the annual financial report that also includes non-financial results. To compliment and expand on this with a focus on its commitment to sustainability, Brenntag has created the “Sustainability Insights” magazine. On its 80 plus pages, the magazine features in-depth stories on various sustainability topics such as carbon management, solar projects, food research and social commitment.
Infinity Recycling, Invest-NL and LyondellBasell announced they have invested in Pryme N.V., an innovative cleantech company, located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The group of investors contributed nearly EUR 13 million to support the commercialization of Pryme’s pyrolysis process to convert used plastic into valuable products on an industrial scale. Pryme is currently building an advanced recycling plant in Rotterdam that is expected to start production later this year and plans to build a second larger-scale plant in 2025.
First Quarter 2023 Financial Highlights include Net sales of $215.7 million compared to $225.5 million in the prior year period. Gross margin of 32.9%, up 100 basis points versus the prior year period. GAAP net income per diluted share of $0.35 compared to $0.47 in the prior year period. Adjusted earnings per diluted share of $0.38 compared to $0.50 in the prior year period. Cash flow provided by operations was $25.8 million and free cash flow was $16.7 million.

Clariant announced first quarter 2023 sales of CHF 1.200 billion, compared to CHF 1.262 billion in the first quarter of 2022. This corresponds to an increase of 1 % in local currency and 5 % lower sales in Swiss francs. The positive pricing impact was 7 %, and the consolidation of the US Attapulgite business (scope) added 1 %, while volumes decreased by 7 %. The currency impact on the quarter was – 6 %. Sales growth was strong in the Business Unit Catalysts, which to some extent compensated for the slight sales decreases in the Care Chemicals and Adsorbents & Additives Business Units.
